Protection Put to the Test.
How Sunset Technologies helped a DSO rapidly expand cyber protection across 49 practices, with immediate results.

When ransomware struck one location of a multi-location dental organization, leadership knew it was time to strengthen protection across its other practices.
The organization had already introduced Sunset’s Opus cyber resiliency program at two locations. Following the incident, leadership made the decision to expand protection across 49 additional practices.
Within just 48 hours, all 49 locations were fully deployed and actively monitored by Sunset’s cyber resiliency team.
Almost immediately, that protection was put to the test.
Technology Detected the Threat. People Took Action.
Shortly after deployment, suspicious activity associated with a phishing attempt was detected at one of the newly protected practices.
Sunset’s technology identified and quarantined the threat, but the response didn’t stop with an automated alert.
Our cyber resiliency team investigated the activity, contacted the practice directly, and walked the office manager through what was happening. Behind the scenes, the team began additional protective measures, including firewall actions, to help contain the threat.
The team confirmed the affected workstation was clean and found no additional threats. Password changes were also initiated as part of the response.
What This Means for a Growing DSO
Protecting a multi-location organization takes more than installing software. It requires the ability to move quickly, maintain visibility across practices, and have experienced people ready to respond when something goes wrong.
For this DSO, Sunset demonstrated all three:
The DSO didn’t have to figure out who was watching, who would respond, or what happened next.
That was already in place.
